Magic Valley Aeromodelers LLC Meeting Minutes June 2026
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM 14 members present
Treasurer’s Report:
$10,673.63
Maintenance Report:
Scott Thomas has been mowing. Scott and John Jenkins working on getting the weeds sprayed.
Safety Report:
A reminder to remove props on electric planes prior to working on them.
Training Report:
George Kudzma is working on getting the trainer bound to a transmitter. Information on a potential trainee was given to George.
Old Business:
A question about airspace resulted in the conclusion that you are required to use a Remote ID transponder if you are not flying in a FRIA (FAA-Recognized Identification Area). Our field and the Murtaugh Lake float fly location are official FRIA locations.
New Business:
Float fly at Murtaugh Lake July 11, 2026 beginning at 9 AM. The site is at Camp Murtaugh on the south side of the lake.
Show and Tell:
Steve Lincoln discussed a Dr.I triplane model he entered in and flew at scale events in the past. He also gave a history of the actual aircraft and its most famous pilot, Manfred von Richthofen.
Mark Metge displayed a de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk he scratch built from plans. It includes a canopy formed from a pop bottle and several 3D printed parts. It has an electric motor and MonoKote covering.
Bill Eberlein brought a small slope soarer made from a Guillows Patriot Chuck glider. It had a very successful maiden at the Indian Springs slope site.
Raffle:
No Raffle, but Eugene O’Gorman was the successful bidder for the Timber. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 PM
Next meeting is Wednesday July 1st starting at 7 PM. We will meet at Loong Hing.
